Thiers-Issard | Thiers, Auvergne, France | Est. 1884
Thiers Issard was established in 1884 by Pierre Thiers, (1860–1929). He was part of a family of master razor makers. The Thiers family owned their own forge. The “Chart of the Jurande” or the Professional Guild Charter of the time lists at least three “Thiers” as master razor makers. Thiers-Issard began by making French hand razors of exceptional quality and remains a leading manufacturer of straight razors in Europe to this day. Based in Theirs, the world cutlery-making capital, they are also makers of exclusive and very expensive specialty Damascus steel knives. To this day, they remain among the elite in France’s knife making industry: crafting specialty and every-day cutlery. Their oyster knives are made with an emphasis on strength and ergonomics.
